Aitana makes pancakes!

Aitana in year 4 had a great evening making pancakes during the Carnival weekend. Esther and I were lucky enough to taste the results and we must say, they were the best we have ever tasted. Well done Aitana!

Here are some photos of Aitana making her pancakes:
Get mixing!

Any excuse for pancakes!

Pancakes vs Sobao!

It's cold, it's close enough to Easter, it's pancake time! If you're watching the Carnival on TV and are looking for something to do this weekend, why not make some traditional English pancakes? You can find the recipe by clicking on the link below! Let us know if you like pancakes more than Sobao. Be sure to take some photos and show us all at school next week!

Exploring England!

Rainy Santander or Snowy Leicester? The choice is yours!

After most of December (including Christmas!) in the rain, we decided it was time to take ourselves to snowy Leicester. Avni was born and grew up in Leicester, a city in the heart of England! Have a look at the presentation to find out more!

Fun fun fun at Mies de Vega

Mies de Vega - Newsletter

In Year 6, we had a short talk about Hinduism. On 13 November 2012, Avni told us a little bit about the main points of the religion. Now we know that the word 'Hindu' comes from the River Indus. The main values of Hinduism are Karma, Moksha and Dharma.

This year, the main Hindu festivals, Diwali (equivalent of Christmas) and New Year were celebrated on 13 and 14 November. We also saw some photos of Hindu Gods and heard about their stories. We found it very interesting and we learnt a lot.

On 21st November, students in years 3 and 4 joined students for other schools in Torrelavega on a visit to the Concha Espina Theatre to see the film 'Arthur Christmas. Operation presents'. Later that week, on 23rd November, year 5 and 6 students went to see the film 'Superbrother'.

On both trips, we learnt about issues around children's rights and values within education.

On 27 November 2012, years 5 and 6 had the opportunity to wear a traditional Indian costume called a sari. We were shown how to put it on but it is quite complicated. Here is a photo of Sandra wearing a sari from India.
